Calling the Shot – Paul’s brutal personal photo clinic

This image is a few years old and was taken in the heart of Mara North Conservancy. We had been photographing kingfishers but there was a constant stream from a plaintiff young bird. After a while we located the source to a small burrow fifteen feet up this trunk. It was then a question of waiting. It was not until the third time the mother returned that I got it right by moving about 30 degrees anti-clockwise around the tree.

There is separation, the breakfast is intact and the story is too. Unfortunately the chick is too well camouflaged and in this instance you have to work too hard for the narrative. Shame. 6/10.

Are you brave enough to send your best image to his brutal clinic?
